How do I delete data off of an old computer...
Friday June 12, 2009

Many clients have asked us the following question over the years when they are considering disposing of old computers: "How do I delete my data so that nobody else can recover it?"

The solution is simple: Download ERASER.

Eraser is an advanced security tool (for Windows), which allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns. Eraser is free, and utilizes the Department of Defense method for deleting data by overwriting it with random data multiple times. The software works with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 2003 Server and DOS.

Caution: Be careful when using Eraser, because if you destroy data, it will be impossible to recover that data at a later time.
